What does the lubrication system do?
When the engine is working, each moving part acts on another part with a certain force, and many transmission parts make high-speed relative motion in a small gap, such as the main journal of the crankshaft and the main bearing, the crank pin and the connecting rod bearing , cam journals and cam bearings, pistons, piston rings and cylinder walls, the movement pairs of the gas distribution mechanism and transmission gear pairs, etc., with relative motion, the surface of the parts will inevitably produce friction and accelerate wear, although the working surfaces of these parts are all After fine processing, but when zoomed in, these surfaces are uneven. Therefore, in order to reduce wear, reduce frictional resistance, and prolong service life, there must be a lubrication system on the engine.
Lubrication method
Due to the different working conditions of engine transmission parts, different lubrication methods are used for transmission parts with different loads and relative movement speeds.
1. Pressure lubrication
Pressure lubrication is a lubrication method in which oil is supplied to the friction surface under a certain pressure. This method is mainly used for the lubrication of friction surfaces with heavy loads such as main bearings, connecting rod bearings and cam bearings.
2. Splash lubrication
Splash lubrication is a lubrication method that uses oil droplets or oil mist splashed by moving parts to lubricate the friction surface when the engine is working. This force type is mainly used to lubricate the cylinder wall surface with light load and the working surface of the cam, tappet, valve stem and rocker arm of the valve train.
