How does a oil pump work?
The function of the oil pump is to raise the engine oil to a certain pressure and then force it to the moving surfaces of the engine parts. The structural forms of oil pumps can be divided into two categories: gear type and rotor type. Gear oil pumps are divided into internal gear type and external gear type. The latter is generally called a gear oil pump.
